After Retiring, This Man Started Photographing The Vibrantly Diverse World Of Fungi Around His Home

Photographer Steve Axford captures the incredible, diverse world of mushrooms found near his home in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, Australia. He says, "This was once a huge area of uninterrupted lowland, subtropical rainforest and I have a little piece of it to look after and restore to the best of my ability. It is very rewarding and the native plants, animals, birds, and fungi love it."
As a retired person with plenty of time on his hands to spend exploring the world around him, Axford says, "My photography has been my avenue into this world as it slows me down and allows me to look at things more closely."
