Inside, seeing the sunlight flowing through the multitude of colorful stained glass is a magnificent sight to behold. This temple, also known as the “Pink Mosque” because of the rose-colored tiles, was completed in 1888 by the order of Mirza Hasan Ali Nasir al Molk, who was a lord during the Qajar dynasty. Obviously, there’s so much more to this place besides its pink hues since its stellar architecture and intricately detailed painting and geometric design are unlike any other.
One photographer made the journey to Nasri al-Mulk and had this to say about what he saw:
“You can only see the light through the stained glass in the early morning. It was built to catch the morning sun, so that if you visit at noon it will be too late to catch the light. The sight of the morning sunlight shining through the colourful stained glass, then falling over the tightly woven Persion carpet, is so bewitching that it seems to be from another world.
Even if you are the world’s least religious person, you might feel your hands coming together in prayer naturally when you see the brilliance of this light. Perhaps the builders of this mosque wanted to show their “faith” through the morning light shining through this stained glass.”
If this mosque already looks breathtakingly beautiful in pictures, can you imagine what would it be like if you actually are inside?
